I | Em had | a wolf one | A day | : |
C Wick | ed | D grin | ! Wicked | Em teeth | ! |
A | Em wait | ing stupid | A prey |
To | C stumble | D right | in his | Em reach | . |
A How | he drooled! How he | C stared | at me! |
D How | he’d like a | Em taste | ! |
A He’d | grab one if I | C once | should turn my back: |
D So | finger-lickin’ | Em good | . |
I had a hen one day:
I had a wolf one day:
Without a brain, without a doubt!
Wicked grin! Wicked teeth!
She hopped around in place.
A waiting, stupid prey!
She scratched the ground and looked about
to stumble right in his reach.
I knew by just how fat she was
How he drooled! How he stared at me!
She never could resist.
How he’d like a taste!
Though I had bound her plump little legs,
He’d grab one if I once should turn my back.
She’d find herself a meal.
So finger-lickin’ good.
I had a sack of corn:
I had a hen one day:
A golden grain too good to waste.
Without a brain, without a doubt!
As sure as I was born,
She hopped around in place.
I knew the hen would want a taste.
She scratched the ground and looked about
Greedy bird! She’d eat anything!
I knew by just how fat she was!
And this was high-grade corn.
She never could resist.
I knew if I should leave, she’d wiggle free,
Though I had bound her plump little legs,
In thirty seconds flat.
She’d find herself a meal.
A Tell | me how, | C tell | me how, tell me how |
Tell me how
To | D get | to the | Em mar | ketplace. |
To get these three across the stream.
A Just | one boat |
I can’t take them all at once
C | at my command. | A One | by one |
But even worse,
Means two are a | Em lone | . |
Can’t leave two alone.
Em Oh | , my | A wolf |
Oh, my hen
We | C must | reach the | D mar | ketplace. |
We must get across.
I’ll | Em make | you a | A deal | . |
Tell you what...
C Will | you | D stay | on the side? |
Will you just behave?
Em If | we make it | A there |
If you need,
C I’ll | give you | D half | a share. |
I’ll get you some chickenfeed.
Can I | Em trust | ? |
Can I trust?
C Dare | I | Em trust | ? |
Dare I trust?
Oh, my word!
Oh, my gawd.
So much for good faith!
Should never have trusted them!
I’m a fool!
Can’t reach them in time.
There goes all my crop.
Right down the chicken’s crop.
There she goes,
Grain-fed Cornish hen!
Right into his waiting jaws.
Look at the feathers fly!
Serves her right!
Serves her right!
Serves her right!
Serves you right!
A Serves | Em me | right. |
I | Em had | a wolf one | A day | . | C | D | Em |
