Written at one of Kathy Mar’s weekend-long Stone Soup parties in honor of the traditional Sunday Morning Dead Bunny Brunch, which features pancakes in the shape of rabbits, which scream (sound effects provided by the guests) when their chocolate-chip eyes behold the hot griddle coming up to meet them. No real bunnies were harmed in the making of this song. I don’t eat real bunnies anyway.
Last | Em night | this seemed so | Bm inn | ocent a | Em part | y. |
Just | C friend | ly conver | D sa | tion, soup and | Em song | . |
But | G now | the Bunny | C Break | fast is up | Bm on | us, |
And | C pan | cakes never | D seemed | so very | Em wrong | . |
I watched you as you made your preparations,
And calmly melted butter on the grill.
But this preserve awaiting on the counter
Looks like a gorey garnish for the kill!
Note: JS1 and JS2 chords denote special fingerings Joey devised specifically for the Blood Child song.
Chorus: |
|
You hinted at this on the invitation,
And told us we must witness it ourselves.
But I was never told about the horror,
The carnage that awaited on your shelves.
The two that you most recently had battered
Were at your mercy; to the pan they clung.
I watched in horror as you flipped them over,
To fry up for your hungry hoards of young!
Chorus: |
A severed leg. A sticky tail. The limbs compressed. Some splattered brain. One bleary, bloody, sunny, Sunday morn, I heard the bunnies scream in pain. |
