Why are there so many songs about road kill,
And what they’ve all got inside?
Road kill’s a tragedy, disgusting extrusions,
And road kill had nowhere to hide.
Fresh-grated bunny can never be funny.
But I know they’re wrong, wait and see.
Someday I’ll show you my road kill collection
By Bogle, and others, and me.
Who said that every wish will be heard and answered
When wished on a turkey bone?
Somebody thought of that, and someone believed it,
As many poor turkeys have known.
Wishes so fleeting that keep us meat-eating
Are ones with which I can’t agree.
But someday I’ll show you my road kill collection
By Bogle, and others, and me.
All of us laughing out loud!
We know that it’s s’posed to be tragic.
Alt verse 3:
Have you been half asleep, and have you heard screaming?
I hear them calling my name.
Are they fresh pancakes, or dead battered bunnies?
The two many be one and the same.
I’ve heard them screaming too long to enjoy them
Except with a nice cup of tea.
Someday I’ll show you my road kill collection
By Bogle, and others, and me.
Normal verse 3:
Have you been half asleep, and have you been driving?
( He just ran right into my way. )
Is it the same drive that calls the young racer,
And calls the young kitten to play?
I don’t try fighting the urge for songwriting.
It’s something that I have to be.
Someday I’ll show you my road kill collection
By Bogle, and others, and me.
