I | G won | der how my | Em brain | can work, with | C all | the sleep I’m | D miss | ing. |
G | Em Sleep | , my weary | Am bones | . |
And I’m | D alm | ost scared to | Em check | my watch, and | C find | out just how | Am long | it’s been |
Since the | G last | time Mr. | Em Sand | man knit the | C rave | led | D sleeve | of | G care | . |
I see no hope of sleeping through such bold and bloody ballads.
Sleep, my weary bones.
But the bodies of the neofen are sacked out on the filk room floor,
While the old hands opt to stick it out, and sing until the dawn.
D O | hhhhhh ... |
G Give | me a | Em hamm | ock to | C rest | my weary | D bones | . |
Bm Give | me a | Em bubb | le bath to | C soothe | away my | Am cares | D | . |
G Give | me a | Am wat | er bed, to | D hold | me when I | C sle | D ep | , and |
C Give | me a | D shop | ping cart and | G dog | gie | C bag | , |
So | G I | can drag my | Am wear | y | D bones | up | G stairs | . |
I wish I could have snoozed away the wait for registration.
Sleep, my weary bones.
But now the night of filk’s begun, and I will make the most of that,
Until I see it fizzle out, and crawl upstairs at last.
If I have to share my room, I’ll hold it that much dearer,
And relish the solidity of each square inch of floor.
And if the hotel has no rooms, I’ll sleep out in the lobby!
But I will not stay awake! No, I cannot stay awake!
When the lights are all turned out, I’ll stare into the darkness.
Sleep, my weary bones.
And pray the hotel’s checkout time is not until the afternoon
So I can give my weary bones a decent dose of rest.
May the hotel’s checkout time give me a chance to sleep!
(Chorus)
