Mashup of “Give My Children” into “Like Their Feet Have Wings”.
There’s a filker whose words involve hijacker birds,
or a guy who’s got scissor-like things.
She’s got giants that walk, misshapen rabbits that talk,
and crystals that constantly sing.
She sings of funerals for mice, and how the Horta was nice,
how she doesn’t know reboots from pings.
But there’s one song she wrote before, one we all know her for,
asking that her kids get wings.
Chorus: |
Give her children wings. With a side of spicy sauce. Give her children wings. Don’t know why, but she’s the boss. Give her children wings. And some morning stars to toss. (Those kids) Spent many a day with only cleanser to play with. Go get Kathy’s kids some wings. |
And of course they get breakfast too, it’s s’posed to be good for you.
Some cereal brand known as Life.
But as you’re washing the dishes she expresses her wishes:
She walks in and hands you a knife.
There’s a pound of raw chicken with its slimy flesh stickin’
to the plastic that stretches and clings.
And since you don’t want to argue you set up the barbecue,
Cooking up some homemade wings.
(Chorus)
The sauce is too hot for my mouth.
You’d think that she comes from the South.
Most moms suggest sweaters and things.
But she wants her kids to get wings.
(Chorus)
Ten years later you get it, that you may have misread it
You didn’t provide what you should.
Did you interpret her wrong? She said she didn’t mean songs,
but maybe you misunderstood.
If that was her intent, perhaps the song that she meant
is one many a filksinger sings,
With that angel who’s dreamin’, clued in by a demon.
God knows Echo’s Children have “Wings.”
(Chorus)
And a spreadsheet back then, as well, similar to Excel:
That was called Informix Wingz.
And CD’s of McCartney’s from the late 1970’s.
Also by the name of Wings.
