Forget what you see. I am not he,
Your boring old father. Why do I bother?
I’m wearing a mask. Don’t even ask
What hideous creature’s concealed by these features.
I come from a place ’way out in space;
I’m quite a repulsive sight. Don’t whet my appetite.
We don’t have many kids. ’Cause if we did,
We’d just eat them up, you see! We’re all very hungry!
Forget what you see. I am not she,
Your stay-at-home mother. No, I’m something Other.
One Neptunian night, we both caught a flight
To your planet Earth, where there is no dearth
Of babies to steal! Since then, each meal
Has made you grow fatter: a juicier platter.
But you’re getting too smart! I’ve seen you start
Fixing your eyes to me; you’re getting wise to me!
Forget what you see. It was not we
Who once gave you birth, o youngster of Earth!
We’re alien crew! By raising you,
We’re only preserving what we plan to be serving.
But now you know! So here we go,
Dipping a child of six into the waffle mix.
Six years of deceit! All for the treat
Of one Earth-boy waffle! Oh, aren’t we awful!
