They meet beside a chilly brook, for rituals on Hallow’s Eve,
From Aidan Kelley’s latest book and other ancient lores.
There in the circle, shivering, there stands a priestess and a priest,
And all who join their magic ring must
Draw down, draw down, draw down their drawers.
Chorus: |
Through fire and water, earth and air, they step inside the circle bare. Water and fire, air and earth, they prance about its rounded girth. Air and earth, fire and watta! They wear less clothing than they oughta. Earth, air, water and fire! There’s nothing to these folks’ attire. |
In winter, on the longest night, they gather once the night’s begun.
The cold air makes their breath turn white. They long to be indoors.
They stand half-frozen all night long to welcome back the dying sun.
To prove to him their faith is strong, they
Draw down, draw down, draw down their drawers.
(Chorus)
In springtime, when the days grow warm, they once again strip to the buff.
That’s when mosquitoes start to swarm and leave their itching sores.
And even though the days are fair, they still aren’t really warm enough
So goose bumps mix with bug bites where they
Draw down, draw down, draw down their drawers.
(Chorus)
The summer sun feels pleasant while it fills the priest with words like this:
“I am the source of ultraviolet none can long ignore.
Your love and trust will not defend you if your bare behind I kiss.
For gods’ sakes use some sunscreen when you
Draw down, draw down, draw down your drawers.”
(Chorus)
