First three lines are for Ada's wonderful, inspiring song. The rest is a reality check.

And I want it so much.
Close my eyes I can taste the Mars dust in the air.
In the darkness the space stations shimmer in orbits that I will not share.
‘Cause I tasted Mars dust that’s full of perchlorates
In fine-grained abrasives that suck the lungs dry,
And carbon dioxide in high concentrations
That poisons the blood and makes hominids die.

I’d be ever so foolish to open my helmet,
Still more so to savor the Martian bouquet.
But I am willing to speculate
Something I’d not do,
Somebody’s just got to —
And somebody will someday.
