In the age of nukes and disco,
I was born the son of a geek.
In the oddly-named Hill Valley
Dad was pliable and meek.
Then I test-drove an invention
And renamed the Twin Pines Mall.
I’m a student from the future.
Density is all.
By the house of my grandparents,
In a tree above the lane,
I was shocked to spot my father
As he spied on poor Lorraine.
Then a fateful car, approaching,
(Would) intercept my father’s fall.
‘Til my action saved his future.
Density is all.
I looked up my future mentor
I would someday know as Doc
Who’d been standing on his toilet
As he reached to hang a clock.
He shared with me his blueprint
To make time rewind or stall,
Fueled by gasoline and fusion.
Density is all.
We could fuel my journey homeward
With some circuitry of Doc’s
But we found my hasty action
Caused a temporal paradox.
My attempt to save my father
My own birth might have forestalled
I’m a loose thread from the future.
Density is all.
I once had two older siblings,
Now erased, yet I remain
For my actions blocked my father
From the bed of sweet Lorraine.
They were meant to dance together
At that weekend’s high school ball.
So I coached him to approach her.
Density is all.
I returned to home and family
On a trail of flaming tracks
Where the town’s erstwhile bully
Meekly adds a coat of wax.
And my parents now play tennis
Just across from Lone Pine Mall.
I improved my family’s future.
Density is all.
However changed my family
And whatever might befall,
I’m no loser in the future.
Density is all.
