I find the power switch and see it’s painted black.
It blends in nicely with the finish on the back.
I see black cables in a tangle on the floor.
I can’t recall which leads to which thing anymore.
Can’t find the buttons cause they’re flush and black on black.
I’d use my flashlight but can’t find it cause it’s black.
Cheap plastic’s thrown away of every shade and hue.
Then there’s expensive things where only black will do.
I step inside a room and see it’s painted black.
Can’t find the light switch and I bet it’s also black.
Can’t see my feet or any objects on the floor.
I slowly turn around and can’t make out the door.
The tripping hazards in the darkness are all black.
I think I foresee an anxiety attack.
Why can’t the light switch have an LED that glows?
I have to feel around until the darkness goes.
I dreamed there was a bomb, painted black!
Round and black! Cartoon black!
I dreamed it was my job —
to defuse the thing.
I had to cut a wire, wire, wire,
All were black wires.
