High risk is the act of singing,
No matter the crowd, no matter the room.
Carried on nano dust, breath and droplets,
This blunder is tragic and strikes all too soon.
That’s why we’re all trapped by the virus of today.
The equal of the maladies that struck in ages past.
Novel and infectious, thousands in each breath.
The ones that touch our lips and lungs will reproduce and last.
Days and nights drag by, save for when we sing on Zoom.
Reality and sense of time slows down or flashes by.
Music is the focus. I replace or blur my room.
It feels just like experience. I’m not sure I know why.
Gentle friendly hugs turn to lethal acts of war.
This truth will bring us misery ’til there’s a shot or pill.
A breath transmits a smidgen. A shout can carry more.
But music is the motherlode. My song can make you ill.
And even kill!
